Schirm attended the two-day Chemspec Europe exhibition in Cologne on 20 – 21 June again this year – and its stand in Hall 8 was a complete success. No wonder, for Schirm had some exciting innovations on display. For example, the new multi-purpose synthesis unit at its site in Schönebeck is about to be opened. Chemspec 2018 was the first time Schirm attended a trade fair as an independent operating company after the change of ownership from IMPERIAL Logistics International to the South African AECI Group. The exhibition for fine and special chemicals is Europe’s leading industry event, also for contract manufacturing.   

About 100 meetings in two days set a new visitor record for Schirm. Appointments with existing customers and potential new ones alternated with talks with suppliers of raw materials and services. Many of these discussions went far beyond just getting to know each other. Some had specific enquiries, e.g. related to averting capacity bottlenecks or supporting the new introduction of a product.  

Dr Karsten Mielke, Senior Manager for Business Development at Schirm, who is responsible for new customers and business area development, was very pleased with the response at the exhibition. “Chemspec is one of the most important events in the year for us, because networking is particularly important in our complex industry environment. The high number of visitors to our stand and the quality of the new contacts confirmed this again in 2018,” he said. Chemspec Europe 2019 will be held at the Basel Exhibition Centre on 26 – 27 June 2019. “And we have already planned our participation.”

358 exhibitors from 27 countries presented their products and solutions on net exhibition space measuring about 6,000 square metres. The exhibition was complemented by a broad selection of conferences and workshops on issues and trends relevant to the industry. Chemspec therefore provides a specialist forum for successful networking between manufacturers, suppliers and distributors in the field of fine and special chemicals.
